Bonomi
Designing a vodka brand with architectural spirit and local soul.
As one of Double Six Drinks’ earliest distillery projects, Bonomi Vodka held personal significance, but it's design no longer reflected the ambition or sophistication of the growing portfolio.
Challenge
With a shift towards a multi-brand strategy, the team asked us to reimagine Bonomi as a standalone identity: something that could speak to purity and provenance, hold its own behind the bar, and tie into Leeds’ creative and cultural heritage.

Idea
Named after Joseph Bonomi, the architect of Leeds’ Temple Works Mill, the brand is deeply connected to place. We drew inspiration from the mill’s Egyptian-style columns and iconic green domed roof lights – a landmark building with meaning for the founders, who had a personal affinity with the site.
The identity balances precision and emotion. A single wraparound label includes a peek-through window revealing a geometric double-faced layer beneath, with patterns that mimic light filtering through skylights or city reflections. The colour palette combines deep navy – a familiar cue in the vodka category – with turquoise accents that reference the mill’s glass domes. A strong, angular word mark reflects the structure and strength of the columns themselves, while a plaque-like nameplate gives the bottle a sense of permanence and pride.

Impact
Bonomi has relaunched with a clearer sense of story, place and visual cohesion. Its refined identity brings depth to the Double Six portfolio and allows bars to stock it confidently as a standalone brand. For the founders, the new identity is a clear statement of place, craft and creative intent – all distilled in Leeds.
